Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience.
• Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred.
• High School education or equivalent preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• One year of experience working with medical terminology, procedures, diagnosis codes, and insurance strongly preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
• Able to accurately enter and interpret data.
• Able to adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
• Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in person or on the telephone, schedules, pre-admits/admit, or registers patients.
• Verifies third party payer information via the web or telephone.
• Obtains appropriate authorization for Health System and physician services.
• Documents all activities in the computer system as appropriate.
• Collects payments and provides receipts.
• Directs families to appropriate service location by phone, text, email, or in person.
• Notifies management of any insurance/financial discrepancies for approval.
• Schedules Health System services as appropriate.
