Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a courteous Patient Services Representative to welcome visitors and manage registration in Rutherford, NJ. The role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data entry, and timely message delivery to staff.

Strong English communication and medical office knowledge are essential. Responsibilities include greeting patients, scheduling, insurance verification, payment processing, and basic clerical duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
• Excellent English communication, both oral and written.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of medical office terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in computer use; experience with EHR/Practice Management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly professional manner and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains an efficient patient flow through the registration process and provides excellent customer service to patients/families.
• Answers the telephone, directs calls, takes accurate messages and delivers to the appropriate staff.
• Informs patients of delays and assists with patient comfort.
• Posts self-pay charges, collects payments, and provides receipts; reconciles daily payments.
• Scans insurance cards, processes verifications, and updates patient accounts.
• Schedules appointments according to guidelines; handles waitlists and confirms future appointments.
• Schedules and enters orders for diagnostic tests and procedures; supports pre-authorizations.
• Performs various clerical duties and covers other locations as needed.
