Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Iowa is seeking an Office Receptionist to greet patients and families, process registrations, collect demographics and insurance data, and obtain required consents. You will be the first point of contact, explain charges and verify insurance, and enter data for patient charges.

You will greet, instruct, direct and schedule patients and visitors, and transfer calls to clinic staff and physicians.

Qualifications

• Training preferred: effective communication skills and medical terminology.
• Special Training: Basic Life Support; Medical Office Procedures.
• Less than 1 year of experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families and coordinate registrations.
• Obtain accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
• Obtain necessary consents and explain charges and insurance verification.
• Direct and schedule patients and visitors; transfer calls to staff.
• Serve as liaison between patient and medical staff and coordinate requests.
• Assist with medical records requests and inbox communications.
