Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology in Mesquite is hiring a New Patient Coordinator to be the first point of contact for patients starting cancer care. This full-time, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm role supports insurance registration, scheduling, and patient records, with emphasis on timely access to care and a seamless patient experience.

You will collaborate across revenue cycle, clinical, and operations teams, handle onboarding, verify benefits, and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years revenue cycle and/or patient access experience in healthcare preferred.
• Knowledge of multiple PMS and EHR platforms preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel) required.
• Proficiency with medical terminology and insurance benefits and eligibility verification.
• Must successfully complete required onboarding courses and on-demand training within 45 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the continuum of the new patient referral process within department standards.
• Provide strong customer service to patients and stakeholders as the clinic’s first point of contact.
• Independently assess patient needs to prioritize and triage referrals.
• Answer calls, take messages and respond to routine patient inquiries.
• Follow up on missing medical records and test results from referring providers.
• Obtain patient demographics, insurance, referral, and other pre-visit information.
• Verify and register patient accounts in the practice management system.
• Facilitate insurance benefit and eligibility investigations.
• Provide patients with appointment details and directions.
• Distribute forms for patient completion prior to initial visit.
• Maintain physician schedules to ensure proper patient timing.
• Coordinate with clinical team to accommodate scheduling requests.
• Document/update patient records to ensure accuracy.
• Support providers to resolve administrative issues.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
