Job summary

Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital is seeking a patient access representative to greet patients, register visits, verify insurance and collect co-pays across multiple NC locations. The role requires travel to Elkin, Mt.

Airy, Statesville and Wilkesboro and offers a 40-hour work week with benefits eligibility. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate patient data, verifying coverage, assisting with financial clearance and directing patients to the appropriate resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in patient access activities such as scheduling, registration or financial clearance preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules/regulations and updates on insurance pre-certification.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage flow to ensure efficient, courteous service.
• Verify demographic and insurance information for accuracy.
• Complete walk-in registrations and update patient data.
• Verify benefits, calculate and collect out-of-pocket amounts.
• Refer patients for Financial Counselor when needed.
• Close visits: schedule follow-ups and collect balances.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization policies.
• Communicate issues to management for process improvement.
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets.
• Maintain positive relations with patients and staff.
