Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to facilitate complex scheduling requests across multiple systems. You will greet patients, screen for readiness, and manage paperwork for both internal and external appointments.

The role requires strong customer service, empathy, and the ability to work in a high-pressure healthcare setting. Full-time position based at South Lake Union with variable shifts including holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One year of customer service experience.
• Ability to handle high-pressure, time-sensitive healthcare environment.
• Strong communication and empathy.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the flow of the clinic by coordinating with clinical staff to direct and monitor patient location.
• Greets and screens patients arriving for appointments and checks them in using an automated scheduling system.
• Assembles and distributes appropriate paperwork to patients and clinical staff.
• Triages questions and concerns from callers and forwards to appropriate staff or department.
• Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment within Fred Hutch and external referrals; coordinates scheduling with other departments.
• Works closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, provide information, and follow up.
• Communicates with providers, technologists, and nurses regarding scheduling and treatment; notifies parties as needed.
• Manages and prioritizes scheduling requests.
• Recognizes emergency situations and initiates correct code procedures.
• Supports department functions; may take on cross coverage or special projects.
• Assists with training of new staff.
