Job summary

Geisinger in Scranton, PA is seeking a front line patient access associate to greet and register patients, verify demographics, and support the check-out process. You will schedule follow-ups and handle multi-channel communications related to appointments, referrals, and prescriptions.

Responsibilities include communicating financial obligations, collecting payments, and maintaining medical records and recall lists. Prior experience in a healthcare front desk role is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics.
• Monitor patient wait times and communicate changes; provide kiosk support.
• Assign primary/secondary/tertiary insurance per encounter; read responses.
• Provide disclosure and privacy information; obtain signatures.
• Explain financial obligations and collect fees at time of service.
• Complete regulatory forms with patient.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
• Process multi-channel messages regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patient/guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility and collect copays/deductibles/coinsurance.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Independently work queues to resolve accounts timely.
• Maintain productivity and quality performance.
• Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assist with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
• Maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
