Job summary

The University of California - San Diego Medical Centers seeks a Front Desk/Call Center Specialist to deliver frontline patient service. Under supervision, you will perform registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and handle multiple phone lines, relaying messages to clinic staff.

You will use EPIC and other systems to collect demographic and financial information, explain deposits, and support the clinic's operations across hours and locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Three years of customer service experience.
• Experience with registration, appointment scheduling & insurance verification.
• Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
• Proficient computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, handle deadlines and manage conflicting demands with limited supervision.
• Proven problem-solving ability by using good judgment by applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer service, registration, and appointment scheduling.
• Verify insurance eligibility for outpatient services.
• Input patient information in EPIC and relay messages to staff clearly.
• Advise patients of clinic deposit requirements per policy.
• Other duties as assigned, including front desk and call center tasks.
