Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months experience in physician-office/hospital/clinic registration or payer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Able to work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Knowledge of insurance documentation and patient accounting system, data-entry codes.
• Familiarity with HIPAA confidentiality rules.
• Ability to handle changing priorities in a busy setting.
• Strong problem-solving and judgment in dynamic situations.
• Ability to retain and apply procedures for accurate service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and family, determine needs, and guide them to care.
• Register patients by collecting demographic, financial, and insurance data.
• Enter data into the patient accounting system and obtain signatures on forms.
• Collect co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, and deposits at check-in.
• Explain financial responsibilities and refer to counseling as needed.
• Verify Medicare/non-Medicare service approvals and clarify diagnoses/tests.
• Obtain physician orders and scan documents into the system.
• Provide information and directions to patients and families for smooth flow.
• Prepare reports on patient access utilization and flow.
• Support other staff as needed to ensure timely service.
