Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months experience in registration, hospital, clinic, or payer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail with strong time management.

• Strong knowledge of patient accounting systems and insurance documentation.
• Understanding of HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multitask under pressure.

• Ability to comprehend and retain work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information for registration.
• Process registrations, collect signatures, and scan documents into the system.
• Collect co-pays and explain liabilities; refer to financial counseling as needed.
• Validate Medicare and non-Medicare cases for clinical and financial clearance.
• Obtain signed orders and scan into the patient accounting system.
• Prepare patient identifiers and assist with transportation or directions as needed.
• Provide information and directions to patients and visitors; ensure timely service.
• Maintain data integrity and communicate with ancillary departments to smooth patient flow.
• Prepare reports to document patient access utilization and flow.
• Cross-train to provide relief and support to other staff as required.
