Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Past work experience in registration or payer activities is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and time management are required.
• Able to work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Solid knowledge of patient accounting data entry and insurance documentation.
• Understanding HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
• Ability to handle changing priorities in a dynamic setting.
• Strong problem solving and quick judgment in variable situations.
• Ability to retain and apply information to work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and family, determining their needs and assisting as required.
• Adjusts registration flow per guidelines to ensure timely service.
• Provides wheelchair assistance and escorts patients as needed.
• Validates and enters demographic, clinical, financial and insurance data.
• Explains charges and collects co-pays/deductibles at check‑in; documents payments.
• Verifies Medicare/non‑Medicare eligibility and coordinates with scheduling.
• Obtains physician orders and scans documents into the system.
• Prepares IDs and patient labels; handles required forms and signatures.
• Performs pre-registration for select patients and provides directions and info.
• Delivers information and directions to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Prepares reports on patient access utilization and flow.
• Receives cross-training to support other staff as needed.
