Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 6 months of registration/insurance payer experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer-service abilities.
• Accurate data entry and attention to detail.
• Thorough knowledge of insurance documentation and patient accounting.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and privacy rules.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
• Must understand changing priorities and adapt accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information.
• Determine service type and direct patients to scheduling or ancillary services.
• Provide wheelchair assistance and transport as needed, and escort patients to correct locations.
• Enter data in the patient accounting system and obtain required signatures.
• Collect co-payments/deductibles and educate patients on financial responsibilities.
• Validate Medicare and other insurance cases for clearance and coordinate with scheduling.
• Obtain and scan physician orders and related documents.
• Prepare ID bracelets/labels and obtain necessary signatures.
• Assist with pre-registration and provide directions, parking, and transport details.
• Maintain high data integrity and communicate with departments to ensure smooth flow.
• Prepare reports documenting patient flow and cross-train for coverage.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and Genesis policies and procedures.
