Job summary

PRISM Vision Group seeks a Patient Service Representative for our Retina Group of Washington, Greenbelt, MD location. This onsite, non-exempt role handles patient interactions by phone, online, or in person, manages scheduling, and executes daily workflows including cancellations and recalls.

Responsibilities include accurate registration, demographic verification, insurance checks, and upfront financial counseling. Travel to other locations may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in a patient-facing healthcare or customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and complete full registration for patients requesting appointments.
• Initiate pre-registration and ensure demographics and insurance information are up to date.
• Verify insurance, benefits, and referrals; obtain IDs and validate coverage.
• Explain appointment policies and provide information on records, parking, and charges.
• Provide upfront financial counseling and discuss payment plans with patients.
• Act as liaison for patients, physicians, and staff to facilitate care flow.
• Notify relevant parties about appointment times, referrals, and authorizations.
• Train other patient services staff and ensure HIPAA compliance.
