Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register and schedule patients, verify demographics and insurance, and perform related EMR duties in a fast-paced clinic setting.

You will greet patients, collect co-pays, process messages in EMR, schedule follow-ups, and support referrals and deposits. Strong communication and computer skills are essential to ensure accurate records and smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge and training in medical terminology, keyboarding, and computer skills preferred.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone with correct salutation.
• Documents all messages into electronic EMR.
• Greets each patient warmly and cheerfully.
• Verifies patient information, demographics and insurance coverage is correct.
• Checks in the patient in the EMR.
• Updates and scans updated information and forms into EMR system.
• No Show letter must be generated in the patient chart in the EMR system when applicable.
• Scan and attach paperwork received into EMR and attach and send appropriately.
• Collects patient co-pay and prior balances, posts to account and gives receipt.
• Checks out the patient in the EMR system and pulls orders.
• Schedules return appointments and testing with precertification as needed.
• Completes referrals through the EMR following protocol.
• Runs and reconciles receipts following established protocol.
• Verifies insurance and balances upfront collections with end-of-day reports.
