Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Part Time Patient Access Representative who will facilitate welcoming patients, establish encounters, and verify demographics and insurance data to ensure accurate scheduling and registration.

You will verify insurance eligibility, collect patient portions, coordinate with physicians and other staff, and support compliance with federal regulations and hospital standards while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately inputs all required data elements for scheduling and registration.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains necessary authorizations for services rendered.
• Calculates and collects the estimated patient portion based on benefits and contract reimbursement as well as prior balances.
• Performs financial assessment for appropriate program assistance.
• Communicates purpose of and obtains patient/legal guardian signatures on hospital documents.
• Represents the Patient Access department in a professional, courteous manner at ALL times.
• Assists the hospital in the event of an internal or external disaster.
• Supports department to accommodate patient volume and shift changes as needed.
• Supports the department in achieving established performance targets.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and adheres to all policies and standards.
