Job summary

University Hospitals Elyria seeks a Patient Access Representative to be the first contact for patients and families, ensuring accurate demographic, insurance, and payment data while assisting with MyChart enrollment and scheduling.

The role supports the care team, improves patient experience, and helps maintain appointment flow. Prior customer service and healthcare exposure are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Customer Service (required)
• 1+ years of Customer Service in healthcare (preferred)
• High School/GED required
• Associate degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Check patients in/out for visits.
• Answer phone inquiries and schedule appointments.
• Assist patients with MyChart enrollment and use.
• Enter/update/validate patient demographics, insurance and financial information.
• Communicate with medical care team.
• Contact insurance companies for coverage or preapprovals.
• Collect payments for copays, coinsurance, deductibles and balances.
• Process paperwork and forms as needed.
• Manage EPIC work queues and inbasket messages.
• Schedule referrals and follow-ups.
• Scan documents accurately into EPIC.
