Parkland Health is seeking an Access Center Specialist to respond to inbound calls and emails, schedule routine and complex appointments, and assist patients, staff, and providers with access to care. The role emphasizes accurate data entry, efficient referrals, and patient education through MyChart and other portals.

The position requires a high school diploma, 3 years of customer service experience (preferably in healthcare), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Three years of customer service experience, preferably in medical/health care or call center.
• One year of referral management and/or insurance plan identification preferred.
• Typing test: 20 wpm with max 3 errors; CS and Spelling tests min 80%.
• Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in obtaining access to care via appointment scheduling, referrals, medication refills, insurance updates, and portal access.
• Performs registration: verifies patient identity and demographics, notes third-party funding payors.
• Verifies and updates patient information and demographics.
• Keeps clinic scheduling instructions and pre-clinical guidelines in mind.
• Ensures clear, concise entries in patient medical records per documentation standards.
• Updates recall/wait list and makes necessary updates in clinic procedures.
• Explains financial responsibilities and completes benefit verifications as required.
• Responds to routine inquiries and resolves concerns via calls, emails, and electronic requests.
• Identifies emergencies and activates appropriate response per procedures.
