Job summary

University Hospitals in Avon Center, OH seeks a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients and families. You will verify demographics, insurance, and payment details while delivering exceptional service and guiding patients through MyChart and scheduling processes.

Responsibilities include registering patients, coordinating with the care team, handling insurance questions, collecting payments, and ensuring accurate documentation in EPIC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree or progress toward degree is preferred.
• Medical Terminology knowledge is preferred.
• 1+ year of customer service experience is required.
• 1+ year of customer service in healthcare is preferred.
• Exceptional communication with patients and providers is required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions with strong organization.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality of PHI.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in and out for visits.
• Answer phones, address inquiries, and schedule appointments.
• Assist patients with enrolling and using MyChart.
• Enter and validate patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Communicate information to the medical care team.
• Contact insurance companies regarding coverage or billing as needed.
• Collect and process patient payments for copays and balances.
• Scan documents into EPIC in a timely and accurate manner.
• Schedule referrals and follow-up visits.
