Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a detail-oriented front desk/patient access professional to support patient check-in and care coordination in a busy office environment. The role emphasizes accurate demographics, scheduling follow-ups, and multi-channel communication with patients and providers.

Responsibilities include insurance verification, privacy compliance, and timely handling of patient financials, recalls, and records releases to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Checking patients in for appointments and verifying demographics.
• Assuring all check-in procedures are completed and monitoring patient wait times, communicating changes to the patient; providing kiosk support where applicable.
• Understanding general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter; reads and interprets insurance responses.
• Ensuring patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information, and obtains necessary legal and financial signatures.
• Communicating financial obligations to patients and collecting fees at time of service as appropriate.
• Completing regulatory forms with patient as required.
• Scheduling follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services as needed.
• Processing multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notifying patient or guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances and collecting accordingly.
• Performing cash posting following department guidelines.
• Independently working work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
• Maintaining productivity and quality performance expectations.
• Accurately performing medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assisting with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
• Properly utilizing and maintaining patient recall and reschedule lists.
