Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for our Mansfield, TX facility. The role acts as liaison among patients, payers, and the health care team, collecting demographic info and securing out-of-pocket payments to maximize reimbursement.

You will verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations where needed, and support revenue cycle processes while delivering excellent customer service and accurate medical records management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification in healthcare preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required.

Responsabilités

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and building relationships.
• Identify and triage patients on arrival to the hospital to protect patient safety.
• Answer phone professionally, record messages and refer to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and ensure correct payor/plan in system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Pursue collections at the time of service to maximize reimbursement.
• Scan registrations and clinical docs into system and maintain records.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and log payments, transfers, and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
