Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA seeks a Part-Time Day shift Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration, verify identities, review schedules, and collect co-pays in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include scanning documents, entering demographics into the EHR, and guiding patients to the correct service areas while adhering to privacy and compliance standards. This role offers opportunities for professional growth within Sentara RMH.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
• Customer Service OR Data Entry - 2 years (Required).
• Healthcare experience (Required).
• Proficiency in computer keyboarding (Required).
• Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service.
• Scan important documents such as insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs.
• Verify and enter patient demographics and insurance information in the EHR.
• Explain and complete regulatory and compliance documents; ensure privacy standards.
• Explain and collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances; process transactions securely.
• Greet patients and families, answer questions, and guide to service areas.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties; provide updates to waiting families.
