Job summary

Sentara Louise Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA seeks a Patient Access Representative for part-time Day & Evening shifts. The role handles patient registration, verifies records, and processes documents. You will collect co-pays, schedule, and guide patients to the right service areas while ensuring privacy and accuracy in the EHR.

The position requires a high school diploma and 2+ years in customer service or data entry, with preferred knowledge of payer codes and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
• 2 years Customer Service or Data Entry experience required.
• Proficiency in keyboarding; knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills; proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify identity and correct records.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register for services.
• Scan insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs; enter demographic and insurance data.
• Explain and collect co-pays and balances; perform secure transactions.
• Greet patients and families; assist to service areas; may schedule and pre-admit/discharge.
