Job summary

Emerus seeks a Patient Access Specialist/Front Office at WellSpan Hospital in Carlisle to serve as a liaison among patients, payers, and the care team. The role involves collecting demographic info, verifying insurance, securing payments, and enabling smooth revenue cycle processing.

The position requires a high school diploma, strong customer service, and knowledge of insurance plans; EMTALA, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance are essential. MS Office proficiency is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required/preferred
• 2 years of patient registration & insurance verification experience in healthcare preferred
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of commercial and government payors (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required/desired
• Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish advantageous in certain markets

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between patient/family, payers, Patient Financial Services, and care team
• Obtain/verify demographic information to maximize reimbursement
• Verify insurance benefits and payor plans in patient accounting system
• Obtain required insurance authorizations where applicable
• Pursue collections at time of service in a customer-friendly manner
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents
• Assist with patient transfers between facilities
• Respond to medical record requests from patients and providers
• Maintain cash drawer and logs of patients, payments, and admissions
• Maintain visitor/vendor log
