Job summary

WellSpan Health in Chambersburg seeks a Patient Access/Registration professional to collect patient demographics and insurance data for all services. You will be the first contact for billing questions, explain benefits, and route calls on the hospital switchboard.

Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, verifying insurance, processing payments, and supporting disaster procedures. This role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in customer service and good communication skills.
• Typing speed of 45 wpm preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance processes is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient demographic and insurance information for inpatient, surgical, ER and outpatient services.
• Explains benefits to patients and/or guarantors and provides cost estimates.
• Collects payments for out-of-pocket expenses and ED copays.
• Reconciles daily banking deposits and prepares deposits for next business day.
• Answers hospital switchboard and routes calls; maintains professional customer service.
• Obtains authorizations/referrals and verifies insurance requirements as needed.
• Uses EPIC and other systems for insurance verification and documents processing.
