Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a knowledgeable front-end team member to support patient access. You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and educate on coverage while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

• Understand basic medical and insurance terms used in scheduling/registration.
• HIPAA-compliant; aware of state/federal rules and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, managed care, and commercial payers; explain requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Act as a resource to other staff.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the patient record foundation.
• Checks in and registers patients; verifies demographics, insurance, and collects co-pays.
• Explain financial responsibility and refer to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements; obtain necessary signatures.
• Schedule appointments and communicate test prep and arrival instructions.
• Greet patients, answer calls, and assist with transportation, directions, and interpreters.
• Maintain welcoming, professional environment and deliver excellent customer service.
• Monitor and manage EHR work queues per department procedures.
