Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) to be the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, and financial discussions. This role supports a seamless patient experience and strong revenue cycle workflows.

The PSR will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, physicians, and staff while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record.
• Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities.
• Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans; discusses financial information and obligations with patients; refers to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Follows HIPAA and other regulations; obtains patient or guarantor signatures as required.
• May schedule patient appointments and coordinate related tasks; provides test preparation and arrival information to patients.
• Greets patients and visitors; answers calls, screens messages, and assists with directions, transportation, interpreters, etc.
• Monitors and processes electronic health record work queues per department process.
