Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a patient access professional to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and assist with the registration and financial clearance processes. The role focuses on accurate data collection, efficient patient flow, and timely follow-up for patient responsibilities.

The candidate will interact with patients, families, and clinical staff, using MS Outlook/Word/Excel and ADT software to maintain records and ensure compliant billing processes.

Qualifications

• Ability to identify and understand issues and problems.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements.
• Strong communication and math skills for handling balances and patient responsibility.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and ADT software.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and manages flow for efficient, courteous service.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy.
• Completes registration for walk-ins; updates demographics and insurance as needed.
• Calculates and collects patient out-of-pocket liability; requests balances or estimates due.
• Follows Financial Clearance policy when no clearance or authorization exists.
• Directs patients to Financial Counselor as needed for financial assistance.
• Executes visit closure: schedule follow-ups, collect responsibility, provide documents.
• Maintains knowledge of insurer requirements and pre-authorization rules.
• Communicates service issues and process improvements to management.
• Meets productivity and accuracy targets to ensure quality service.
