Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a part-time patient access/registration team member within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Rev Cycle Strategic Support Team: Southeast in North Carolina. Responsibilities include pre-registering patients for admissions and outpatient services, and verifying insurance coverage with required authorizations.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor's preferred), accurate typing (40 wpm), strong communication, and knowledge of hospital billing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Accurate spelling and attention to detail required.
• Must be able to key 40 wpm.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required.

Responsibilities

• Registers or Pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that requires authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged. Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
• Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
