Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative I to support patient registration, verify demographics and insurance, and collect patient liabilities in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

This role requires strong communication, multitasking, and a willingness to assist patients with financial counseling as needed. Training on the ADT system and payer rules is provided, with a Monday–Friday schedule and weekend rotation for select areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access experience preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules is beneficial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage flow to ensure efficient service.
• Complete registration and verify demographics and insurance.
• Verify benefits and collect out-of-pocket liability.
• Inform patients of financial clearance and refer for financial counseling.
• Process visit closure and schedule follow-ups.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and ADT system.
• Communicate issues to management and meet productivity/accuracy targets.
