Job summary

Emerus is hiring a Patient Access Specialist to coordinate patient intake, verify insurance, and secure revenue for hospital services. You will ensure accurate demographics, consent forms, and timely communications with care teams.

Responsibilities include high-quality customer service, proper patient identification, and adherence to EMTALA and HIPAA regulations in a fast-paced admissions environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all applicable regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and building relationships.
• Identify patients and triage upon arrival to ensure patient safety.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in patient accounting system.
• Obtain required insurance authorizations where applicable.
• Pursue timely collections and maintain accurate cash handling.
