Job summary

Emerus is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and hospital staff. You will collect demographic and insurance information, verify benefits, and secure out-of-pocket responsibilities to maximize reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Verify demographics and insurance benefits; obtain authorizations as needed.
• Maximize collections by pursuing payments at the time of service.
• Scan registrations and clinical documents into the system and maintain records.
• Assist with coordinating patient transfers when necessary.
• Maintain cash drawer and log patient payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log and assist staff as needed.
