Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time registration specialist to support our revenue cycle operations. You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and ensure data accuracy in the EPIC EMR system.

You will interact with patients, physicians, and staff, providing exceptional service while maintaining HIPAA compliance and handling sensitive information with care.

Qualifications

• HIPAA-compliant and knowledgeable of applicable state and federal rules/regulations.
• Experience with insurance verification/eligibility tools and EPIC EMR.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record.
• Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information; discusses co-pays and patient responsibilities.
• Knows insurance basics and refers patients to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and related regulatory requirements; obtains signatures as required.
• Schedules patient appointments and provides detailed test preparation and arrival guidance.
• Greets patients and visitors, handles inquiries, and assists with transportation or interpreter services as needed.
• Monitors and works on electronic health record work queues per department procedure.
