Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform patient registration, data verification, and EHR creation in a fast-paced environment. You will collect demographics and insurance details, discuss co-pays, and help guide patients through care processes while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Daily duties include effective communication with patients, coordination with Financial Advocates, and maintaining accurate records in EPIC EMR and related systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience not mandatory but preferred for handling high workload.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Create the initial electronic health record for patients to support care and billing.
• Register patients: collect demographics, insurance, and co-pays; ensure data accuracy.
• Explain insurance basics and coordinate with financial advocates as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient privacy in all tasks.
• Assist with scheduling and patient guidance, including appointments and test prep.
• Provide welcoming, professional service to patients and visitors and handle inquiries.
