Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is hiring for a Registration specialist to coordinate patient registration, verify insurance, and schedule encounters. You will conduct patient interviews by phone or in person to gather demographic, insurance, and clinical information to ensure accurate accounts and financial clearance.

The role includes working in the emergency department and educating patients on financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of customer service experience.
• 1 year of healthcare environment experience (hospital or physician office).
• Basic computer and typing proficiency.
• Ability to interact with a diverse patient base, including emergency cases.
• Successful completion of required training within two attempts or less.
• Calm under pressure in a busy environment.
• Ability to adapt to changes and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to collect demographic, insurance, and referral information.
• Guide patients through registration process to ensure a positive experience.
• Ensure orders are complete and match appointments; obtain missing orders when needed.
• Scan insurance cards, prescriptions, IDs, and regulatory forms accurately.
• Obtain signatures for timely reimbursement and service-specific consents.
• Determine and collect patient financial responsibility; refer to financial counseling when needed.
• Review daily schedule for conflicts and coordinate resolutions with staff.
• Maintain compliance with accurate registration data.
