Job summary

Phelps Memorial Health Center is seeking a Patient Services Representative to interview incoming patients or their representatives and enter information required for registrations into the information system. The role also operates the switchboard, handles routing, and maintains control of money received with strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record patient's personal and financial information.
• Verifies insurance information with third party payers.
• Responsible for the receipt of monies and the reconciliation of receipts to the daily deposit.
• Ensures confidentiality and complies with PMHC policies.
• Provides courteous, professional service on the switchboard and with patients.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record information and secures signatures.
• Routes calls and information to the appropriate departments via the switchboard.
• Processes credit card transactions and maintains petty cash.
• Assists in billing, insurance, and account balance inquiries.
• Supports data collection for Quality Assurance/Improvement.
