Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Revenue Cycle clerk for the South Suburban IL ED Arrival department. The role focuses on patient check-in, insurance verification, co-pay collection, and accurate data entry into the EPIC EMR system.

The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, HIPAA compliance, and solid knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid basics. Training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in high-stress environment and multitask.
• HIPAA compliance knowledge.
• Proficient with computer systems and EPIC EMR.
• Familiar with Medicare/Medicaid and insurance basics.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record and ensures patient safety by proper identification.
• Checks in and registers patients, obtains and verifies demographics and insurance information, discusses co-pays and responsibilities, and helps ensure timely payment.
• Explains insurance basics, discusses financial obligations, and refers patients to Financial Advocates as needed.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulatory requirements and obtains signatures as required.
• May schedule appointments and provide test preparation and arrival information to patients.
• Provides welcoming, professional customer service and handles calls and inquiries, including transportation and interpreter coordination.
• Monitors EHR queues and follows the department's approved process.
