Job summary

Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Associate to obtain and enter accurate demographic and insurance information in the EHR at various entry points of the facility. The position also performs cashiering duties, collecting co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance, and ensuring accounts are secure.

The role requires strong customer service, effective communication with patients and staff, and adherence to EMTALA and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of customer service experience required; hospital registration experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record accurate demographic and insurance information in the EHR at patient entry points.
• Explain consent forms and obtain signatures; answer questions professionally.
• Assist with cashiering by collecting co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance; post payments accurately.
• Balance cash drawer daily and follow hospital cash handling policies.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
