Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support check-in and arrival processes at USC facilities in Los Angeles. The role collaborates with physicians to schedule new patients and collect medical records, preparing charts for physician review.

You will verify patient demographics, confirm insurance coverage, obtain documents, and guide families through financial responsibilities with professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Req High school or equivalent Or equivalent evidence in file required.
• Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
• Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.

Responsibilities

• Generate a patient MRN and is adept at utilizing the MRN checker.
• Register patient with name and date of birth to ensure correct patient.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Determine if the patient’s insurance is contracted with USC.
• Edit insurance information as appropriate.
• Resolve all GE Centricity Alerts.
• Ensure all documents are obtained, signed and scanned in the EMR.
• Obtain patient demographics and confirm accuracy in hospital and physician systems.
• Verify benefits via direct calls or electronic verification systems.
• Ensure authorizations are in place as specified by patient carrier.
• Provide professional customer service and follow scripts.
• Assist with scheduling, check-out, and other duties as assigned.
• Balance cash drawer and prepare bank deposit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
