Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Patient Access/Registration professional to create the initial electronic health record and manage patient intake. You will verify demographics, insurance details, and co-pays, while ensuring patient safety and confidentiality per HIPAA.

You will educate patients on portal usage, coordinate with Financial Advocates, and maintain a welcoming environment for patients and visitors with strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Create the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record.
• Prevent duplicate medical records to ensure patient safety and proper billing.
• Identify patients prior to care to ensure safety.
• Register patients, verify demographics, guarantor and insurance information, and collect co-pays.
• Explain insurance basics and discuss financial obligations with patients.
• Coordinate with Financial Advocates and refer when needed.
• Educate patients on portal/app usage and schedule appointments as required.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and other regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service and professional environment to patients and visitors.
• Assist with e-scanning, faxes, inbox messages in the EHR, and support clinical team as needed.
