Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Good keyboarding skills, computer experience, customer service and medical terminology are required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and handle multiple tasks while remaining calm and focused.
• Must be detail oriented, able to follow oral and written instructions, maintain accurate records, and listen and communicate effectively.
• Must work well with others in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients in person or by phone.
• Obtains accurate demographic and financial information.
• Collects co-pays.
• Performs ICDX coding.
• Performs medical necessity screening and communicates with physician office to obtain correct diagnosis.
• Prepares all related forms, patient card and ID bracelet.
• Receives and disseminates information from other departments, physicians, and patients.
• Prepares documentation for each patient visit based on type of visit.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
