Job summary

The US Oncology Network in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to manage new patient referrals, registrations, and scheduling. You will serve as a liaison among referring providers, clinical teams, and patients to ensure timely, accurate onboarding and a compassionate start to care.

This onsite role emphasizes insurance verification, eligibility checks, data integrity, and collaboration with scheduling and administrative staff.

Qualifications

• Two years patient access and/or referral management experience.
• Knowledge of PMS and EHR platforms.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance benefits verification.
• Must complete onboarding within 45 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between referring providers, clinical teams, and new patients to ensure timely, accurate coordination of care.
• Manage the full continuum of the new patient referral process, prioritizing and triaging based on clinical urgency.
• Follow up with referring providers to obtain missing medical records and critical documentation.
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and referral data for seamless registration.
• Create and update patient accounts in the practice management system with data integrity.
• Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit investigations to support financial transparency.
• Provide patients with clear communication regarding appointment logistics, time and location.
• Distribute and review new patient paperwork and educational resources.
• Maintain physician schedules to accommodate new patient appointments and rescheduling needs.
• Ensure all patient records are updated in designated systems and reviewed for clinical readiness.
• Escalate complex issues to appropriate departments to ensure timely resolution and patient satisfaction.
