Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a patient access coordinator to streamline new patient registration and referral management at our Plantation, FL site. You will verify demographics, insurance, and referrals, coordinate scheduling with clinical teams, and ensure timely onboarding while upholding HIPAA and practice standards.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in patient access/referral roles, knowledge of PMS/EHRs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• 2 years patient access and/or referral management experience in healthcare preferred
• Knowledge of multiple PMS and EHR platforms preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel) required
• Proficiency with medical terminology and insurance benefits and eligibility verification required
• Must complete onboarding courses and training within 45 days

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between referring providers, clinical teams, and new patients to coordinate care
• Manage the full new patient referral process and triage referrals based on urgency
• Follow up with referring providers to obtain missing medical records and documentation
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and referral information for seamless registration
• Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit investigations for patient preparedness
• Provide clear communication regarding appointment logistics (time, location, directions)
• Distribute and review new patient paperwork and educational resources
• Maintain physician schedules to efficiently schedule new patients
• Ensure patient records are accurately documented and updated in systems
• Escalate complex issues to supervisor to ensure timely resolution and HIPAA compliance
• Support additional duties to improve patient experience
