Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to deliver patient-focused service, collect demographics, and schedule appointments across NMHC systems. The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance and accurate data entry while supporting multiple hospital departments.

Float position with shifts between early morning and early evening, Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays about every eight weeks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of customer service or medical office experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing and basic computer skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, patient-focused service and respond to questions and concerns.
• Direct and escalate issues to the Team Lead as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and protect sensitive information.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate with hospital departments and physicians.
• Verify insurance eligibility and patient information in Epic and related systems.
• Assist with out-of-pocket estimates and financial discussions as needed.
