Job summary

Norwalk Hospital Association is seeking a Part-time Patient Access clerk to facilitate the patient flow from scheduling to registration. You will collect demographic and financial data, verify insurance eligibility, and help secure payment sources for services rendered.

Shifts run 7:00am–7:00pm with every other weekend and holidays. Requires 2+ years related experience, HS diploma; NAHAM cert within a year is a plus. Strong MS Word/Excel and customer service skills are expected.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required with 2+ years related experience.
• Associate degree preferred; NAHAM certification within one year of hire.
• Basic MS Word and Excel; strong customer service and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and staff; check in and direct based on appointment location and status.
• Respond to calls; reduce wait times and answer queries per standards.
• Search and verify patient identity in EMR; schedule appointments per protocol.
• Enter accurate demographic/financial data; assist with eligibility verification.
• Provide service cost estimates and collect patient liability as needed.
• Enter orders and ensure compliance with policies and HIPAA rules.
• Obtain necessary signatures and maintain clerical accuracy.
• Support compliance with EMTALA, Patient Bill of Rights and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
