Job summary

The Patient Access Advocate I at Presbyterian System Services provides primary registration for self-pay, government and commercial accounts at the point of service for scheduled and unscheduled visits. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience in healthcare setting or 1 year customer service background.
• Pass 2 week Patient Access Academy with a passing score of 85% or higher (within 6 months of start).
• Basic understanding of insurance preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient registration process and collects accurate demographics and financial information for account completion.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits; document actions for audit trail.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits, liabilities and financial assistance options.
• Maintain records and ensure timely documentation in the system of record.
• Maintain productivity and data quality standards; de-escalate conflicts when needed.
