Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Patient Access Advocate I to perform primary registration for patient accounts at Isleta. You will verify demographics, insurance eligibility and patient liabilities at the point of service, while delivering excellent customer service and helping with wayfinding.

The role requires basic insurance knowledge, healthcare or customer service experience, and successful completion of the Patient Access Academy with strong EPIC proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months healthcare experience or 1 year customer service experience.
• Pass 2-week Patient Access Academy with score 85%+ within 6 months of start.
• CHAA/CHAM or other industry certificate preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
• Registration/healthcare basics expected.
• Strong keyboarding skills; efficient data entry.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• EPIC proficiency test with 85% score.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary patient registration for self-pay, government and commercial accounts at date of service.
• Ensure accurate demographic and insurance information; verify eligibility.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities.
• Ensure accounts are financially cleared at time of service.
• Maintain documentation in the ADT system with audit trails.
• Adhere to CARES, AIDET and EPE customer service standards.
