Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Patient Access Advocate for PRESNow Paseo. The role handles primary registration for self-pay and insured accounts, verifies demographics, and ensures accurate billing information at the point of service.

The position requires a high school diploma, healthcare or customer service experience, and EPIC proficiency. Strong customer service and data-entry skills are essential, with emphasis on insurance awareness and compliance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience in healthcare or 1 year customer service.
• Complete Patient Access Academy with a passing score of 85% or higher within 6 months of start.
• CHAA, CHAM or other industry equivalent certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred.
• Requires basic understanding of registration and healthcare.
• Demonstrated strong keyboarding skills and data entry efficiency.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Products.
• Pass EPIC proficiency test with an 85% score at completion of EPIC Training.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET and EPE tools.
• Address and resolve complaints in the moment with de-escalation techniques.
• Manage conflicts and seek supervisor help when needed.
• Apply PROMISE and CARES behaviors in every encounter.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities.
• Ensure accounts are financially cleared at time of service.
