Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Patient Access Advocate I for full-time, 12-hour night shifts at PRESNow Uptown. You will register patients, verify insurance, collect at the point of service and document in the ADT system, ensuring accurate data for billing.

You will use CARES, AIDET and EPE tools to deliver an exceptional patient experience, educate on benefits and liabilities, and help clear accounts at the point of service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience in healthcare or 1 year customer service.
• Pass 2 week Patient Access Academy with a passing score of 85% or higher (within 6 mos of start).
• CHAA, CHAM or other industry equivalent certification preferred
• Basic understanding of insurance preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred
• Requires basic understanding of registration and healthcare.
• Demonstrated strong keyboarding skills, ensuring efficient data entry and documentation.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Products.
• Pass EPIC proficiency test required with a 85% score at completion of the Epic Training class.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service and Caring Practices: Provide exceptional patient experience for patients and families using CARES, AIDET and EPE tools.
• Addresses and attempts to resolve complaints in the moment using de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to manage conflict and escalate to a supervisor when needed.
• Implement PROMISE and CARES behaviors in every encounter.
• Educates patients regarding insurance benefits and liabilities.
• Ensures accounts are financially cleared at time of service through account review.
