Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support inpatient and outpatient access functions. You will conduct quality interviews, verify demographics, gather identifications, and ensure compliance with patient safety rules and regulations.

The role involves insurance verification, pre-certification, scheduling, registration, bed planning, and cash collection under supervision, with emphasis on delivering a positive patient experience and accurate financial clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to work rotating schedules/shifts.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer Service oriented.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office / Google Suite).
• Ability to work every other weekend and three of six holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform facility-based scheduling and pre-registration.
• Verify patient insurance and pre-certification.
• Register patients and collect point-of-service payments.
• Manage bed planning and financial clearance under supervision.
• Maintain compliance with patient safety rules and regulations.
