Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support inpatient and outpatient access functions across assigned hospital areas. You will verify patient identity, manage demographic information, and coordinate with insurance for verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

The role requires strong communication, Excel/Office proficiency, and the ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree and/or related experience preferred.
• Minimum 1+ year hospital setting experience desirable.
• Experience with EPIC systems and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality interviews with patients to verify identity and demographics.
• Perform insurance verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.
• Handle scheduling, bed planning, pre-registration, and registration tasks.
• Collect payments at point of service and ensure patient experience remains positive.
• Adhere to HIPAA, safety regulations, and quality standards.
